For those of you looking for Maemo spy phone software in order to convert a Nokia N900 into a N900 spy phone, you’ll be happy to know that at least two spy phone companies are currently hard at work on developing Maemo spy software.
The cool (but big and heavy) new Nokia N900 uses Nokia’s latest OS called Maemo. So far there hasn’t been any spy phone vendors willing to allocate the resources needed to create Maemo spy phone software due to the small number of handsets in the marketplace. However, something must have changed because there has been at least two companies that have confirmed they are close to releasing Maemo spy software. No word on the features or exact availability, but most likely Maemo spy software will have the following “must have” features found in all the current spy apps.
- GPS Tracking: This will enable you to track the N900.
- Text Message Logging: Using Maemo spy software, you will be able to view incoming and outgoing text messages sent/received from the N900.
- View Call History: Find out who the person you are spying on is calling. Call duration and number information provided.
- Remote Picture & Video Grab: This Maemo spy feature enables you to remotely grab pictures and videos stored on the N900, so you can see what “secret” photos are on the phone.
Again, the above features are pure speculation, but based on the information received from a variety of sources, most of the features listed above, will be available at the time Maemo spy phone software is released. An actual release date is not set, but most likely it will occur sometime in the first 6 months of this year. I’m hearing as early as April, but it depends on how final beta testing goes, and what bugs are reported by the beta testers.
Usually when spy phone vendors start to leak information on upcoming products, and especially when they start signing up beta testers, the product is pretty close to being ready to launch. Will be interesting to see when Maemo spy software does come out, the features available, and the overall excitement it causes. I personally have not been a big fan of the N900 and the Maemo OS, but mainly because I feel the phone is a bit bulky and Maemo’s user interface isn’t very intuitive compared to the more polished iPhone and BlackBerry user interfaces. I guess time will tell ultimately how Maemo performs, but there are definitely a lot of people excited about Maemo based on all the “chatter” I hear and by the number of emails I get asking when Maemo spy software will be available.
