Although not even released yet, I’m starting to get a lot of emails from readers asking if there are any spy apps for the new Motorola Backflip. It seems this hot new phone from Motorola (AT&T will be the exclusive carrier in the US), is going to big a big seller when it’s released in early next month.
For those of you not aware of the Motorola Backflip, it won the 2010 Best of CES awards in the ‘Cell Phones & Smartphones’ category. Powered by the Android OS, the Backflip has a 3.1-inch touchscreen and a full QWERTY keypad on the back of the device. The keypad can be used when the Backflip is opened flat, but is inactive when the phone is closed. When the keypad is tilted backwards at an angle, the Backflip can be used as a digital photo frame, video viewer or bedside alarm clock. (thats a pretty cool feature)
Other features include a 5 megapixel camera for shooting still photos and videos. The home screen offers widgets that provide easy access to updates, messages, photos and contacts on social networks, such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The mini-apps also simplify posting to the sites. The Backflip runs on AT&T 3G broadband network and also includes built-in Wi-Fi support
So will the Backflip support any spy apps?
YES, you will be able to purchase a Backflip spy app. You can actually purchase a Backflip spy app now. However, since installation is required on the actual device, you’ll have to wait until AT&T releases the Motorola Backflip in early March.
Since the device runs on the Android OS, you’ll have a couple different Backflip spy apps to choose from.
You can go with Android spy app from Mobile Spy that has all the “must have” spy phone features such as being able to read incoming/outgoing text messages, viewing call history details, and GPS tracking. Mobile Spy’s Android spy app starts at $49.97 for a 3 month license or $99.97 for a 1 year license (also includes a free copy of their award winning PC spy software called Sniper Spy).
I personally can’t wait until the phone is released. I’ve been waiting for a reason to buy another Android device to test spy apps on. When I do get my hands on a Backflip, I’ll post an update on how both spy apps perform on the device.
